A vacancy has arisen on Parish Council following the retirement of long-serving Councillor Nick Hague. Nick, 82, who was the chairman of the planning committee, announced his decision to step down from the PC at Monday's meeting of the full council.

Chairperson Penny Shoubridge paid tribute to Nick's committment to the Parish Council for which he served more than 20 years in two separate terms. Penny called him a "stalwart" of the Council and the community and said he would be enormously missed. She thanked him for his support and loyalty and the dedication and expertise he brought to his work on the planning committee. Penny also highlighted Nick's involvement with Gatwick matters affecting Charlwood and Hookwood.

The Notice of the Casual Vacancy has been posted on the noticeboards and a copy can be accessed here. If ten or more parishioners request it, an election will be held. Otherwise the Parish Council will co-opt a replacement.
