The Parish Council has submitted a strong response to the proposal by Gatwick Airport to bring the Emergency Runway into regular use and enable it to launch a significant expansion of its operations.

It is estimated that the plans will lead to over 70% more passengers using the airport with over 35% more flights.

In a lengthy document, amounting to more than 4,600 words, the Parish Council spells out the devastating effects that Gatwick growth on this scale will wreak on the local community: additional noise impacts, increase in harmful emissions, escalating traffic numbers on the local roads and an enhanced risk of flooding.
