At the Open Evening on 2nd November, the Parish Council unveiled the plans for a car park in the Millennium Field to address the parking problems that have plagued Charlwood for too long.

Those plans can be viewed by clicking here. The next stage in the process is to present the plans to the JB & TM Trust, the owners of the land, for its approval. Discussions are still continuing with nearby residents so these proposals can't yet be seen as definitive. But it is hoped that a planning application can go to Surrey County Council and Mole Valley District Council early in the New Year.

It is proposed that the playground remains where it is with the car park constructed to the rear of the Millennium Field, providing spaces for 30 vehicles. It will serve users and visitors to the Pavilion and Recreation Ground, those visiting the Cafe and nearby shops and also parents taking their children to the School. Entry will be controlled and there will be measures to prevent Gatwick travellers from parking there as well as residents using it for overnight parking.

A new two-way access will be created into the Field from The Street, just up from the existing pedestrian gate which will be removed. The access road goes down to a single track with passing points. To improve the sight lines for vehicles exiting the car park, consideration is being given to removing the existing hedgerow and relocating it further away from the road.
