The official Election Notice is published today which begins the countdown to the local elections to be held on Thursday 4th May. Candidates wishing to stand can now hand in their nomination papers, to be delivered by hand to the Mole Valley District Council offices in Pippbrook, Dorking. The deadline for the papers to be received there is 4pm on Tuesday 4th April. In the Charlwood parish nine seats are to be filled, six in Charlwood and three in Hookwood. The Election Notice also contains important deadlines for voters in the run-up to 4th May. For the first time this year voters will need to show photo id such as a passport or driver's licence. Anyone without suitable photo id can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate via the Gov.uk website - applications have to be in by 5pm on Tuesday 25th April.
