Car Park Update

The provision of a car park in Charlwood Village has been discussed over many years with a view to it being located at either the Rectory or in the Millenium Field next to the Pavilion. Advice received from Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), stated that planning permission was more likely to be granted for if it were to be located in the Millenium Field.

After consideration by the Parish Council, a planning application was submitted to MVDC in 2023. Planning permission for the application was refused. Reasons for refusal can be found on MVDC ‘s planning website.

Since that refusal there has been much discussion about how to move forward. Drawings have been drafted for 5 different options. These were on display for residents to review at the Annual Parish Meeting on the 23rd May. The Parish Council have now engaged a planning expert who, at this time, is reviewing the different options. The planning expert will be advising the Parish Council on the strengths and weaknesses of each of the options.

The Parish Council is asking the whole community for your views through a public consultation. You will have access to the 5 various options including indicative costs for each option, along with the planning expert’s advice to give you the relevant information you need to help you decide which option you want the Parish Council to pursue.
